Here are a few reasons
why:
A child with medical difficulties needed special care
here in the United States that were not available in his country. We got the
child enrolled in a health plan, and he is currently receiving the best therapy
care available.
If a client is having trouble with their insurance application
and might be scared to speak to the staff at the Medicaid
office, we can ease the process, and call Medicaid ourselves. Very often, we go
far beyond the allotted time for our clients. We are there for them and help
them all the way through.
A parent came in to apply for health
insurance coverage for a disabled child. She was so frustrated with life in
general, and was on the verge of a breakdown. She had no idea who she could turn
to for help. She was desperate for a few days vacation from all of the stress,
and had nowhere to leave the child. The caseworker referred her to an agency
that provides respite care for disabled children. Now, she feels like a new
person and is better able to cope with the rest of the family.
We ease
the health insurance recertification process as much as possible. A young
women came in to our office, looking sad and forlorn. Her mother had recently
passed away leaving ten children behind, including herself. Her mother had a
very well-paying job with great employer health insurance, and the family never
needed help from the government before. The young woman felt so overwhelmed with
these new programs she was faced with. She has now taken on the responsibility
of helping her father, who was overwhelmed with grief. Our caseworker helped and
guided her, and made sure her documents were processed properly. Shortly
thereafter, all of the children were fully insured under the government-funded
programs.
A sick child located out of town needed
insurance in order to go to camp in New York and receive medical treatment.
Due to the illness the family decided to relocate to NY, set
up permanent residence here and then we were able to get them insured.
Document acquirement for insurance application. One couple had a
hard time obtaining documents needed to apply for insurance coverage. We went
out of our way to call various offices and expedite the process. We got the
documents just in time so that the couple was able to get their coverage
activated for the following month.
Helping to navigate the insurance
maze. We get phone calls from people who have such a hard time understanding
the complexities of the different health insurance programs available. We
explain the process and repeat it until it is understood. We will then continue
to guide them through the process until they actually have obtained the
coverage they needed.
We helped a non-citizen who needed insurance for her
children. A woman?s young child needed critical surgery, where the child
could not have survived 30 days without it. Once we acquired the necessary
coverage, the child received the crucial emergency surgery and was on the road
to recovery three weeks later. (Without insurance, the family would not have
been able to afford the lifesaving surgery).
A hearing impaired client
came in to Nachas Health to apply for health insurance. Not only were we
able to set her up with health insurance, we were also able to get her an
appointment with a renowned Audiologist. We were even able to raise money for a
hearing aid for her. Now, not only does she have the health insurance she needs,
but she also has a new more positive stand on life.
A client was
denied insurance coverage due to an error done at the Medicaid office. We
helped the client apply for a fair hearing, guided her through the process, and
got her coverage reactivated. |
